5G网络音视频传输标准概述

    Zhou Xiang, is an assistant engineer in the Radio Technology Research Institute of Academy of Broadcasting Science. He received a master degree from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2019. His research interests include mobile edge computing and multimedia transmission.
    In this paper he is mainly responsible for standard collection and article writing.

    Li Xunchun, Ph.D., is now a senior engineer and deputy director of Radio Technology Research Institute of Academy of Broadcasting Science. He is engaged in research works of radio and television coverage network planning and optimization, 5G transmission etc. He has published more than 30 papers, participated in the compilation of 5 books, and obtained 2 patents and 2 software copyrights. At the same time, He has won more than 20 ministerial science and technology project awards.
    In this paper he is mainly responsible for standard collection.

摘要:

【目的】对3GPP中的5G网络音视频传输相关标准进行介绍,为相关运营商和服务提供商利用5G进行网络音视频传输提供参考。【方法】通过对3GPP标准进行研究,梳理介绍了基于5G系统的流媒体通用服务架构、5G媒体分发系统和其中需要进一步研究的问题。【结果】3GPP的编解码和媒体工作组针对5G中的流媒体系统架构、协议、编解码、格式等提出了相关的技术规范和技术报告,对于运营商或者服务提供商在5G中部署流媒体传输具备指导意义。【局限】3GPP关于媒体传输的标准很多,而且在不断的发展,受限于参照的标准数量,无法全面详细描述所有媒体形式的传输架构。【结论】5G音视频传输标准的研究对于提高网络音视频传输的体验质量有重要意义,有必要紧跟3GPP标准,结合运营商和服务提供商的具体情况实现部署。

Abstract:

[Objective] This paper introduces the 5G media streaming-related standards in 3GPP, and provides a reference for mobile network operators and service providers to perform media streaming in 5G networks. [Methods] By studying 3GPP standard, the general service architecture for media streaming based on 5G, the 5G media distribution system and issues requiring further research are elucidated. [Results] The 3GPP SA WG4 Codec has proposed relevant technical specifications and technical reports on the media streaming system architecture, protocols, codecs, formats, etc. for 5G. It is instructive for mobile network operators and service providers to deploy media streaming in 5G. [Limitations] 3GPP standards for media transmission are numerous and are constantly evolving. Due to the limited number of standards referenced, this paper does not fully describe transmission architectures of all media forms. [Conclusions] Research on 5G media stream transmission standards is of great significance for improving the quality of experience of media stream transmission. It is necessary to keep up with 3GPP standards, but actual deployment can be carried out according to the specific conditions of mobile network operators and service providers.
