信息中心网络中的内容命名粒度研究

    本文中负责实现命名粒度与名字数量关系探究的数值计算部分,以及命名粒度与不同命名方式下不同查表算法效率探究的实际测试部分。
    Zhang Kangning, is a graduate student of the Institute of Network and Digital Media, Beihang University. His main research directions are the future Internet architecture and network function virtualization.
    In this paper, he is responsible for testing to find the relationship between the naming granularity and the number of names, and that between the naming granularity and the efficiency of different table lookup algorithms under different naming methods.

    本文中负责命名粒度对名字数量、请求数量和条目数量影响的理论分析部分,以及分析测试结果得出结论。
    Zhang Shan, is an assistant professor in the School of Computer, Beihang University. She has been a reviewer for more than ten international journals such as IEEE JSAC, TMC, TVT, and has been a member of several international conference technical committees such as IEEE ICC, GLOBECOM, and chairman of the IEEE GLOBECOM 2019 Mobile Edge Cloud Branch. She published more than 30 papers on top SCI journals such as IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, IEEE Communications Magazine, and IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing. Her main research directions are edge cloud computing, Space-Earth Integration Network, and network intelligent management.
    In this paper, she is responsible for the theoretical analysis of naming granularity on the number of names, the number of entries, and the conclusions of analysis and test results.

    Luo Hongbin, is the professor and doctoral supervisor of Beihang University, the winner of the Excellent Youth Fund of Outstanding Youth Science Foundation, and honored by Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University. In recent years, he has published more than 60 papers in international authoritative journals and conferences in the Internet field such as IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials, IEEE Trans. on Networking, IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, IEEE Trans. on Parallel and Distributed Systems, and IEEE Network. His research interests include future Internet architecture, integration of satellite-terrestrial networks, software-defined networking, network function virtualization, and network information and security.
    In this paper, he is responsible for reviewing the overall thinking, preliminary literature research, and the introduction of the article.

Research on Content Naming Granularity in Information-Centric Networking

摘要:

【目的】在信息中心网络中,内容命名粒度是影响网络效率特别是路由查表效率中的重要因素,然而具体关系尚待研究。【方法】本文从内容命名粒度对网络名字数量的影响出发,探究不同命名方式下内容命名粒度对内容请求数量以及不同命名方式下路由表规模的影响,进而得到内容命名粒度对路由查表效率的影响。【结果】探究发现内容命名粒度越小,名字数量和请求数量越多,(依命名方式不同)路由表规模可能变大、查表效率会降低。【局限】本研究的结果主要是基于论文调研、数据分析和本地测试,暂时缺乏真实网络测试的支撑。【结论】本文阐明了内容命名粒度对信息中心网络产生影响的各个因素以及这些因素间的相互关系,为相关领域进一步的研究工作打下理论基础。

Abstract:

[Objective] The content naming granularity in information-centric networking (ICN) is an important influencing factor on network efficiency, especially the efficiency of routing table lookups. This work investigates the interplay between routing table lookup efficiency and content naming granularity. [Methods] Firstly, the number of network names is analyzed with respect to the content naming granularity, whereby the number of network requests and the size of routing tables are obtained under different naming methods. Then, the impact of content naming granularity on routing table lookup efficiency is further investigated. [Results] This study found that the smaller the content naming granularity, the larger the number of names and requests, and the routing table size may become larger depending on the naming method, which in turn leads to a reduction in table lookup efficiency. [Limitations] The results of this study are mainly based on the literature review, data analysis, and local testing, which means it currently lacks of support of real network testing. [Conclusions] This paper explores the impact of content naming granularity to the efficiency of ICN progressively and analyzes the main influencing factors and their interplay, which lays a theoretical foundation for further research on content naming granularity.
