Abstract:

[Background] Ocean data is the foundation for understanding and exploiting the ocean. With the rapid development of ocean observation and detection technologies, ocean data is experiencing an explosive growth. The data demand is becoming increasingly urgent. [Objective] The purpose is to integrate multi-source ocean science data, break through the data storage isolation, and establish unified metadata standards and data sharing links. [Methods] This paper constructs an ocean science data aggregation and sharing service platform. It provides an integrated, online, and streamlined process for ocean data submission, review, registration, storage, retrieval, and sharing. It offers a fair way for different users to access data, information, knowledge, and technology. The platform also provides DOI/CSTR automatic registration services to enhance data intellectual property protection and safeguard the rights of data owners. [Results] The platform, guided by data standards, incorporates data storage standards, management process standards, and metadata standards, achieving the "Four Unifications": unified encoding, unified management, unified storage, and unified publication. [Conclusions] With the widespread application of the platform, it can better promote the efficient sharing and utilization of ocean science data, fully explore the potential value of ocean information, and provide high-quality support for ocean science research.
