Abstract:

[Objective] The emerging industries of the era of pervasive intelligent connectivity demand network technology for determinacy, security, and control capabilities. Current “best-effort”, single-form IP network faces challenge in simultaneously providing guarantees for network quality, security, management, and efficiency. At this new historical stage, a new network architecture is urgently needed that considers the wide interconnectivity of the network while paying more in-depth attention to cybersecurity and the specific requirements of industrial applications for the network. [Methods] This paper proposes a novel network architecture, Full-Dimensional Definable Network 5.0. It adopts a new network architecture design concept of “network-centric, inherent ability, full-dimension definable”, proposing a new core protocol system covering the data plane, control plane, management plane, and inherent security system, and utilizes ubiquitous IP and artificial intelligence technologies for efficient addressing, routing planning, and trust management. [Results] Through this architecture, Network 5.0 effectively integrates the storage, computing resources, and multi-level forwarding capabilities in the network, thereby better meeting application requirements and achieving inherent network security, deterministic transmission, integration of computing and network, and differentiated services, significantly reducing the complexity of network applications and improving network efficiency and application quality. [Conclusions] The Full-Dimensional Definable Network 5.0 promotes the development of ubiquitous scenario applications, transforming the network from a simple connection tool into a feature-rich, multi-service, secure, and reliable platform. It has been successfully tested and validated in multiple application fields, becoming one of the mainstream development paths for new network architectures.
